A Uni graduate asked me for advice Here's what happened...

I posted a TikTok one day called “How to Start a Business in the UK.”
just sharing the basics:
Have a clear idea
Build the right skillset
Register your business
And start building a presence online
I edited it, posted it, and didn’t really think much of it.
Then it took off—over 4,000 views, with loads of positive comments.
A few days later, while I was out grabbing food, I got a DM on TikTok:
“Hey bro I am studying IT at uni. What company can I start? Me and my friend like database and use SQL and Oracle APEX.”
I didn’t know much about Oracle APEX, so I asked ChatGPT, did a bit of digging, and sent back a business idea that fit what he told me.
Then he messaged again:
“What skills should I learn in general as I feel like I lack a lot of technical knowledge sometimes.”
I told him to start building some passion projects—maybe apps or tools he enjoys making—build a portfolio, and share his journey online.
Then he said this:
“My hobby is to cook actually.”
After we spoke more, it was clear—he had a real love for food and making desserts. I gave him my number and told him to message me any time he needed help.
But what really stuck with me was this:
a university student had come to a 15-year-old for business advice.
Honestly, I had to pause for a second.
That felt wild.
But it reminded me—you’re never too young or too old to start something. And anyone can give you value. Age doesn’t define insight, experience, or ideas.
Even though I’m still young, I’ve been lucky to have support—from my family and people around me. I’ve learnt a lot from them. I’ve had mentorship and encouragement. And that’s what I try to pass on.
Because here’s something I believe:
No one is really “self-made.”
We all learn from someone—whether it’s a YouTube video, a face-to-face chat, or a stranger on the internet.
Lesson learnt:
Share what you know—you never know who’s listening.
Anyone can start—regardless of age or experience.
“If you want to make a million dollars, help a million people.”

Yousaf
