I Interviewed the UK’s Youngest Assistant Principal – Here’s What I Learned

Written By: Yousaf Sufian CEO & Founder

Last month, I Sat Down with Akeim Mundell

Akeim is a community activist in Moss Side and the youngest assistant principal in the UK. He’s done a lot to help the youth and make a real impact in education.

We spoke about the challenges Akeim faced and his commitment to giving back. We also touched on the school system—while Akeim had a different view from mine, he respected my thoughts on it. I’ve always felt that the school system doesn’t prepare you for real life and doesn’t teach practical skills. But Akeim emphasized that even though we might not retain much from subjects like science or algebra, school teaches important life skills like confidence, people skills, and creates memories with friends.

How We Made It Happen

I spotted Akeim, asked him, “Hi, do you want to do a video with me?” and sent an email explaining more. After filming, I edited and posted it right away. He told me later, “When you approached me, I thought you were joking about this at first…” But taking the chance led to something amazing.

Key Takeaways

🔹 Consistency Wins – Success is about showing up consistently, even when progress seems slow.

🔹 Support Networks Matter – Helping others is key to reaching your own goals. No one makes it alone.

🔹 Take Risks – Growth comes when you step out of your comfort zone.

Big Thanks

Huge thanks to Akeim for his time and insights, and to my friends for helping with filming and setup.
