Not Everyone has to be an entrepreneur

Hey all,

Let me tell you what happened a few weeks ago.

I was in science class, just chilling before the lesson started, and I asked my teacher something totally random—but deep.

“If I gave you a million pounds to quit your job, would you?”

He didn’t even blink.

“No.”

So I pushed it.

“Alright, 2 million?”

Still no.

“Okay, 5 million then?”

He looked at me and said, “No.”

That’s when I hit him with the real question.

“What’s your purpose then?”

He said, simply,

“To enjoy life.”

And you know what? it reminded me of a page I read in Simon Squibb’s book What’s Your Dream?

Somewhere around the middle, he says:

“If you’re happy with your life, if you’re content working 9–5 and living the way you are—then you can stop reading this book.”

Because we live in a world that’s constantly telling us to want more. Do more. Be more.

But what if enough really is enough?

A while ago, I interviewed Akeem Mundell—community activist, leader, and all-around inspirational figure in our city.

When I asked him about starting a business, he said something that echoed today’s moment:

“I love my job. I’d like to start a business one day—but right now, I’m happy with what I do.”

He didn’t need a business to feel fulfilled.

He didn’t feel pressured to jump into something just because it’s trendy.

He’s living life on his terms—and so was my science teacher.

And here’s the message I really want to leave you with:

You don’t have to be an entrepreneur.

If you’re happy in your job, happy with your life as it is—then that’s not a bad thing.

In fact, I wish you all the best.

That’s something to be proud of.

Lesson learnt:

  • If your life brings you joy, you don’t need to chase anything more.

  • Being content isn’t giving up—it’s winning differently.

  • You don’t need to build a business to build a meaningful life.
